ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:

This workshop is designed to rapidly transform a group of individuals into a high-functioning improv troupe by fostering psychological safety and mastering the technical “magic” of ensemble play. Participants will learn to navigate the stage with the fluidity of an “Improv Super Troupe,” utilizing several core areas.

The Magic of Instant Connection

Your time travel journey begins by establishing a safe environment where players trust one another to try and fail without judgment. Via small-group warm-ups and exercises, you will work from being a dream partner to a dream team. You will quickly build high energy and collective focus from the first minute.

Mastering Togetherness via Edits, Endowments, and Transitions

Part of being a team player means taking chances, dropping judgement of yourself and others, and embracing curiosity.

Transitions via time-travel and magic will be your guide to build magical, silly and creative worlds. Participants will learn to treat information as a “gift” through various types of endowments and will learn to initiate transitioning between scenes in fun and natural ways.

Putting it all together

By the end of this workshop, the “strangers” in the room will have developed the group mind necessary to perform with the confidence, support, and technical precision of an established troupe. You’ll finish with group-level long-form narrative improv exercises to create show-worthy scenes.

WHEN: 5th of September (Saturday), from 11:00 to 14:30 (3.5 hours in total).

WHERE: Sala La Puntual (C. Río Gévora, 2, 29002 Málaga)

Do you need previous improv experience? It’s much better if you have some basic improv experience, but if you don’t have any, and you really want to participate, get in touch and we’ll see what can be done.

Do I need to speak English? Yes. The workshop’s explanations and exercises will be in English.

ABOUT THE TEACHER:

Paul Alderson studied improv in Singapore for several years, including several performances. Since coming to Malaga in 2025, Paul has been an active participant in Mylaga, performing in multiple local shows, and leading the infamous summer jam sessions.
